Curved arms,
Peeling paint,
Once held grandfather.
He sat next to her
In the bright white Adirondack chair.
He rocked back and forth to
Her chit chat-
"The bird bath needed water,
The grass was too long,
Her iced tea glass was empty."
Grandfather listened and rocked.
The chairs sit still now
In the back yard, but
If you listen when
The light breeze blows
You will hear
The rhythm of a rocker
Keeping the beat
As the chit chat rolls on.
