Branchlets and Roots

Branchlets, like fingertips
stretch toward the light,
touch-

Shivers, as when the wind
blows through the trees,
tingles inside

Electricity runs like sap,
saturated they
join together-

Growth over 23 years
they tied a knot-
roots intertwined-

Until together at last, they danced.
